TEN $1,000 SCHOLARSHIPS WILL BE AWARDED TO CHILDREN OF TEAMSTER MEMBERS FOR THE COLLEGE ACADEMIC YEAR 2010-2011 APPLICANTS MUST: · Be the son or daughter of an active and/or disabled Teamsters Local 222 member who has at least twelve months of consecutive membership prior to application deadline of March 31, 2010. · Be in his/her last year of high school and may not apply if he/she has already graduated from high school. · Have a grade point average of 3.0 or better. · Be among the top ten applicants, ranked by GPA and SAT (or ACT) scores. · Plan to attend an accredited college or university. These scholarship awards can be used towards tuition and/or book fees. Checks will be written to the school. The membership of Teamsters Local 222 works for over 35 employers consisting of a broad range of occupations: Professional Drivers, Warehouse Workers, Office, Bookkeeping, Clerical, Store Clerks, Auto Transport Drivers, Parcel and Small Package Handling and Delivery, Route Salesmen, Janitorial, Laundry-Linen Drivers, Construction, Sand & Gravel, Bakery Salesmen-Merchandisers-Drivers-Thrift Store Clerks-Maintenance, Dairy Milk & Ice Cream Production workers/Drivers/Maintenance, Mechanics, Car Rental, Job Corps. Residential Advisors, Concrete Pre-Cast and Block, US Mail Transfer, Water Treatment Plant operations, Tankhaul Drivers, Health Claim Processors, Credit Union Member Services rep.
